David Drake studied photography at the Western Pacific Academy of Photography in Victoria, British Columbia. He also has a degree in Mass Communications and English Literature from York University. Raised in the western wilds of Vancouver Island, he now makes his home in the west end of Toronto with his wife Jane and their two children.

David is currently working with 19th century alternative processes, such as the Kallitype, Vandyke and Cyanotype. Of late, he is more likely to set up his 8x10 inch view camera in the studio or reach for one of his Holga toy cameras when heading of a photographic adventure on the West Coast of B.C. He has also re-discovered the playfulness of cyanotype photograms,
